1. Information you give us

• Account information: your name, email address, password (stored only as a secure hash), and phone number.
• Farm information: farm name, location or region, and settings.
• Herd records: goats and their tags, breeds, sexes, birth dates, plus health treatments, weights, vaccinations, breeding and kidding records, notes, reminders, and photos you upload.
• Support messages: anything you send us by email or through the support page.
• Billing information: plan and subscription status. Card details, if and when payments are enabled, are handled by our payment processor — we never store full card numbers.

2. Information collected automatically

To keep the app secure and working, we collect limited technical data such as IP address, device and browser type, approximate region, timestamps of sign-ins, and error or crash logs. We use privacy-respecting, aggregate usage counts to understand which features are used; we do not sell this data or use it for advertising profiles.

3. How we use your information

• Provide the herd records, reminders, and reports you ask for.
• Authenticate you, protect your account, and prevent abuse or fraud.
• Enforce plan limits, trials (one trial per phone number), and subscriptions.
• Respond to support requests and send essential service notices.
• Diagnose problems, fix bugs, and improve the app.
• Meet legal, tax, and record-keeping obligations.

We do not use your farm or herd records to build advertising profiles, and we do not sell your personal information.

4. Legal bases (where applicable)

Where privacy law requires a legal basis, we rely on: performance of our contract with you (running the app), our legitimate interests (security, product improvement), your consent (optional communications), and legal obligations.

5. Who we share it with

We share data only with service providers who help us run the app, under agreements that limit their use of it:

• Cloud hosting, database, authentication, and file storage providers.
• Email delivery providers for account and support emails.
• A payment processor, if you subscribe to a paid plan.
• Error-monitoring and analytics providers.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to enforce our Terms, to protect the rights and safety of users, or as part of a merger or acquisition (in which case we will notify you).

6. Your data stays yours

The records you enter belong to you. Administrators of the app can access account-level information (such as email, phone, plan, and usage limits) to provide support and manage subscriptions, and may access your records only when needed to resolve a support issue or comply with the law.

7. Security

Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest by our hosting providers. Access is restricted per account through row-level database security, photos are stored in a private bucket served through short-lived signed links, and passwords are stored only as salted hashes. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.

8. Data retention

We keep your data while your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your personal data, farm records, and photos, keeping only what we must for legal, tax, or security reasons (for example, limited fraud-prevention and billing records). Backups roll off on a regular schedule.

9. International transfers

Our providers may process and store data in Canada, the United States, or other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.

10. Your rights and choices

• Access, correct, or delete most information directly in the app.
• Delete your entire account and its data with "Delete account" in your Profile, or follow the steps on our account deletion page.
• Request a copy of your data, or ask us to restrict or object to processing.
• Withdraw consent for optional communications at any time.
• Complain to your local privacy regulator.

11. Cookies and local storage

We use cookies and browser storage strictly to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and secure the app. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

12. Children

The app is intended for adults running or helping run a farm. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13 (or the minimum age in your region). If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be announced in the app or by email, and the "Last updated" date above will change.
